Jeff ,Nadra and the gals, Just wanted to thank you all for a great first-time ocean fishing experience for myself, my two sons and step-son. The fishing was phenomenal. The modern facilities were amazing. We all only traveled there with one carry on. That is all we needed. One stop on the way to your lodge at the Safeway in Ketchikan was all we needed for groceries and booze. About a half hour with Jeff was all we needed to learn where and how to fish. The new boats were top notch. Lots of room for the four of us (ave weight 230 lbs). The new boats are furnished with all the tackle you should need. We spent about $60 bucks a day on fuel. The marina (opens at 6 a.m.) is about 5 minutes away from the lodge for refueling and snacks. We caught lots of salmon within one mile of the lodge. One day (of four) we had 25 pinks and silvers before noon and had to come in and unload, put the fish on ice, and head back out for more. Feasted on crabs we caught (traps furnished) and took survivors home. We each flew home with 100 lbs of mostly salmon, some halibut and rock fish that were cleaned, frozen in 50 lb boxes. All of our fish arrived frozen at our respective airports from Midland Tx, Minot North Dakota, Calif and Colorado. Weather was great, seas relatively calm. Just a super trip. Jeff, Nadra and the girls did a great job making our trip a “once in a lifetime experience”, except that we will be coming back.

I just wanted thank you for all you did for me. I have been on a bunch of fishing trips and liked your operation better by far than any of the others. The fishing kicked ass too!

We all wanted to thank you and your excellent staff for all that you did to make our fishing vacation great last week.  There were no glitches and your staff was very friendly.  Your operation ran very efficiently and you and your staff met or exceeded all of our expectations.  All of us especially like the part about when we come in from a long day of fishing and dead tired, we don’t have to then worry about fish processing….we can just go have a few ‘toddies’, cook our dinner, B.S. a bit (actually quite a bit) and go to bed early.  We all wish McKinley and Hayden the best in their school year at Bellingham for McKinley and Central Oregon Community College for Hayden and we all hope that they will be back next season.

Pat McGill, Washington

I just wanted to thank you for taking such good care of us during our fishing trip.  We had a great time, and your place is awesome.   Since our trip, I’ve talked to a lot of people that have fished different areas in Alaska, including Ketchikan.  I’ve googled some different lodges and I think I’d take your place over any of them.  The setup is perfect – clean, easy (from bed right into the boat), and it was nice for us to have our own space and do our own thing, but still have you there to help.  You have a special place, and I’ll recommend it any chance I get.

Dave Ellis, Utah

Jeff:   Thanks for a great week last week.  All four of us really enjoyed everything about the experience.  Haydon and Teegan were great, you were great, the boat was great, the house/cabin was great, and the fishing was off the hook.  We brought back about 300lbs of processed fish, now in a new freezer!

I had a party of three friends and we stayed at Chinook Shores in early August 2014. We booked the self guided package. The cabins were quite a bit nicer then we expected. The boat was in great shape and ran well. Jeff and his staff were very helpful in putting us on the fish. The fishing was quite good. If you are looking for a nice place to stay, that provides quality equipment, and has friendly and helpful staff this is the place you should book.

I have fished all over Alaska and have fished at Chinook Shores many times. Sometimes with my kids and wife, other times just a group of guys. Chinook Shores is the best Alaska fishing area I’ve ever been to. Jeff is fishing the area every day and know where the fish are and what is catching them at that part of the season. Best part? You can catch huge king salmon right in front of the lodge. No running for 2 hours to the big fish grounds. One year we caught our biggest fish of the year not more than 100 yards from the dock!

For those that are prone to getting seasick this is the place to go! Fish the calm waters and secluded bays of the Ketchikan area. No big rollers, no long hauls to the fishing grounds, and if the wind picks up you just move to a different side of one of the small islands and continue your day of catching fish.

Are you looking for variety? Kings, silvers, halibut, bottom fish, crabbing, shrimping are all available.

Not only are there tons of fish to catch but the area surrounding Chinook Shores has some of the prettiest views in the world. Whales, otters, and the biggest concentration of Bald Eagles anywhere. We have a picture my son took off the deck of our cabin/house. There are 17 bald eagles in one tree not 50 feet from the deck. To see them swoop down to the beach below our deck and fight over a salmon carcass is a sight I will never forget.

My last comment will be about gear. Jeff takes pride in having his rods, reels, line, nets, boats/motors all in great shape. I go there to fish, and to be successful. I like knowing that when I hit the water all the gear is going to work and the rest is up to me.

So what’s holding you up? Book your trip to Chinook Shores now. Ketchikan is only a 2 hour flight from Seattle and there are many flights per day on Alaska Air.

BTW, I am not an employee or family member of Chinook Shores. Just an avid fisherman who has fished all over Alaska and have never been treated better by a lodge owner, caught more fish, and had the ease of travel like I have had with Chinook Shores. Call Jeff today and be ready for your trip of a lifetime.

I must say once again I had an awesome time this year at Chinook Shores. It’s hard to believe I have been there 5X already and it just gets more enjoyable every time.

Jeff, Heidi, and whoever else has a part of Chinook Shores, Thanks Jeff for the great time you showed Andy and me. I went up there on Leslie’s recommendation and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Everything was just perfect – especially Uncle Kenny. Thanks for showing us how to fish. We had such a good time that we will be going back with our wives. Thanks again, it was better than we expected.

Ron Myers – Utah

Hey Jeff, Thanks again for another awesome vacation at Chinook Shores. We enjoyed our stay this year even more than last. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. We were more than comfortable in the chalet. As to be expected, the fishing was GREAT!!! Thanks to Alan our group brought home 200 pounds of halibut. We were also extremely pleased with all the silvers we caught in the self-guided boat. Thanks for all the great tips! Great place. Great people. Hope to see you again next summer.

Rick Wise, Mark Mercer & families – California

First I would like to say thank you for a great time. We enjoyed you, your dad, the home, and the boats. All were first class. Like we told you before we left, we would like to book a trip for next year. We would like the 7 nights/7 day trip from Sun, July 26, 2009 to Sun, Aug 2, 2009. Please put us down for that time slot. Thanks again for a great time and I wish you continued success.

Brian Leahy – Nevada

Just a wee note to thank you and your family and staff for the really great time we had when we were over there. Paul and I are discussing coming again next year but we not sure if we will be able to both get over at the same time, if not we can probably organize two separate holidays. Hope everyone is having a good time and catching lots of fish.

Denis Lithgow, Scotland

Great time was had by all again this year! Thanks for everything. Sorry we couldn’t stay longer but it was a fabulous trip and just what the boys needed. Me included.

Cheers, Norm

Jeff, as you know I have been visiting my relatives up in Ketchikan for over
45 years. We have experienced the beauty of Alaska and made many friends along the way including you and your father (I would have made more but they tore down the Marine Bar). I can tell you this. You and your family have provided one of the finest Lodging and Fishing destinations around!!

Everything you have done is first class. Any group coming to visit, whether it is old timers like me or new travelers will be overwhelmed by the turn key operation you have. I mean, where can you go and within 3 hours from Seattle, sit in a 20′ Northriver boat that same day and yell (and I am good at that) fish on!!!

Just for the record, this is how the fish count went—In 9 days, we caught 143 Silvers. The largest was 17.8lbs. The average was about 9lbs, 36 were over 12lbs. In all 6 people took home over 350lbs of my “BIG JOHNSON/KETCHIKAN KID” expertly filleted fish. That does not include the fish we had on the BBQ.

Larry Johnson – September, 2007

We want to thank you for a fantastic charter trip. It was such a treat for my husband.

We were able to send the fish to Tampa and it arrived frozen – thank goodness! It is a 5-star treat every time we have a halibut dinner! Brian is ready to come back for more!

Wendela and Brian Jackson – Tampa, Florida (June 2007)

I want to thank you again for a wonderful time. It was my first Alaska trip. In my many adventures of different places in the world I’ve been lucky to fish, this ranks right up there. I will be letting my TV and radio show friends know about your place. We are always looking for a new place to go to and this is it.

Bryant Fonseca, California (June 2007)

Jeff, from all of us in the Hamre fishing party we wanted to thank you and your Father for the Hospitality and for the first class facility. We had the time of our life with lots of video and memories to look back at. I have been passing on your info to everyone I work with so I hope to bring you more business. How’s Bobs (Hali)But Hole. Has it produced anymore Halibut since we left?? Again THANK YOU from all of us we hope to return next year.

Tom Hamre (July 2007)

Just wanted to tell you I had great time fishing at Chinook shores. It was a fishing trip to remember. Accommodations were excellent, the boats were top quality and your help was beyond my expectations. I’ll be back next year with more friends in tow.

Matthew Houghton (July 2007)

Jeff – Thank you for having us at your lodge. Our stay at Chinook Shores was even better than we’d anticipated. Your family’s hospitality was above and beyond, and we sure appreciated the warm welcome. Fishing was great (please also extend a thanks to Allen). The views of the sunsets from the chalet were unforgettable. Also, your dogs made great companions for the boys. We plan to return next summer. Hope to see you all then.

Wise and Mercer families (August 2007)

Thanks for a great time. The accommodations were beautiful, the scenery spectacular, the boats absolutely first class, and the fishing great.

MIKE ATKINSON, SUMNER WA. 2006

I want to thank you for a great time. We had a ton of fun. You have a wonderful spot there!! It is just beautiful.

BRYAN HASSOLDT, CALIFORNIA 2006

I can’t say enough about Chinook Shores. Whether you like to fish or just like to relax, this is the place. The price is unbelievable as well. It is so incredibly reasonable, you can’t go wrong. We would recommend this place (and have already) to anyone. Once you’ve been to Chinook Shores, you will go back again and again.

HONEY SAUCIER, McCALL IDAHO 2006John Duran

Hey, Jeff how you doing? We are still thrilled from our stay with you, everybody’s heard the story twice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep tabs on the best week of the season for those kings so we can plug those dates in for next year, hope you have a successful and profitable year!

JOHN & DIANE DURAN, BAKERSFIELD, CA. 2006

You and your wife have a very nice place. We enjoyed the beach house, the view, the quiet, and my husband adored your dogs. By the time we left my dad and brother were calling them by name and looking forward to playing fetch with them by the fire. Can’t wait to come back.

LORRIE DUNFORD, TEXAS 2006

Thanks again for providing such fantastic accommodations, boats & gear while we were in Ketchikan for the September Coho run. We were very pleased with the comfort and quality of the chalet, and only wish we could have stayed longer! It was a fantastic experience that we will always remember. We are hoping to make plans for a return trip, and you can be assured that we will be recommending you to our friends!
