Chinook Shores Lodge 10 Year AnniversaryKETCHIKAN, ALASKA / January 1, 2015 — Chinook Shores Lodge, specializing in guided charters, unguided and self-guided fishing, today announced that 2015 marks the company’s 10th year anniversary of lodge operations.

Ten years ago, avid fisherman Jeff Wedekind put his civil engineering degree to work and developed land just north of Knudson Cove Marina. Jeff’s family was the original owner of the lodge property, purchasing the land from the Federal Government in the 1940’s.

As a young boy, Jeff fished every summer with his grandfather Harold Snyder and uncle Snapper Carson. Over the years, visiting friends and family would all comment to Jeff, “Wow you should really build a fishing lodge here.” One day in 2005 he did. Today, the land he developed has become known as Chinook Shores Lodge – an Alaska fishing lodge for guided and self-guided anglers.

“It has been an amazing decade of achievements for our employees and fishing adventures for our guests,” said lodge founder Jeff Wedekind. “I thank you all for your dedication and loyalty to Chinook Shores Lodge as we look forward to continuing our culture of passion and commitment to excellence.”

Construction of Chinook Shores Lodge began in the spring of 2005. The lodge opened for business the summer of 2006 with three beach houses and two 20’ unguided boats. The following year a fourth beach house was added, as well as, the dock and two more unguided boats. In 2008 the company purchased the 28’ Shamrock and began offering guided fishing charters. Over the years Chinook Shores Lodge has made many improvements including more boats, more employees, fish processing equipment and a large walk in blast freezer to better preserve anglers fish.

“The last 10 years have been filled with achievements, growth and expanded services, but best is still to come.” Wedekind added.

The company will host a celebration Wednesday, May 13, 2015 to mark its success to date. Open to the media, local dignitaries and members of the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau and Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce, as well as partners that have supported Chinook Shores Lodge in its first decade.
