Hello from Alaska,

Jeff WedekindWelcome to “Currents,” our first newsletter written for fishing fanatics interested in fishing in Alaska. Published annually, this email newsletter is not written to clutter your inbox, rather it’s intended to tell you who’s catching what, where, when and how. As well as inform you about our events, new regulations, pictures of the big ones and the latest news and happenings at Chinook Shores. We hope you enjoy it!

Ready to Fish

North River Seahawk
We purchased a new boat at the end of last year’s season and it’s ready to fish! This almost new North River Seahawk is a welcomed addition to our fleet of charter and unguided fishing boats — all easily accessible to you from our private dock located in front of the lodge. Read more…

Free Shuttle Service

Ketchikan Transportation
We purchased a new van last month. It’s a white Ford 15-passenger van and a definite upgrade from our old green model.  As always, airport shuttle service is free if you prefer not to rent a car. Many of our guests find it easiest to book northbound Alaska Airlines flight #179 which departs Seattle at 10:35am and southbound Alaska Airlines flight #60 which departs Ketchikan at 9:12am and arrives in Seattle at noon. Either way, we’ll take you to and from the airport if you need.

Ice Ice Baby

Freezer
We purchased a new walk-in freezer to provide quicker freeze times and additional storage for your fish, as well as to store herring and other bait. This was a welcomed addition to the lodge because we believe that it’s just as important to have commercial grade fish processing equipment as it is necessary to have only the best boats, gear and tackle needed to catch them.

New Regulations

Fish & GameAlaska Fish & Game has just announced the 2013 king salmon regulations. There are new restrictions, but fortunately good sport fishing isn’t hard to find in Ketchikan. We like to think of it as “so much water, so many fish, so little time!” We work hard to put you on the fish, so let’s go fishing!
