Chinook Shores Lodge and Alaskan & Proud Markets Announce Strategic Alliance
March 12, 2021

Together the companies aim to provide excellent service to Ketchikan visitors while keeping locals healthy by minimizing the risk of COVID-19 traveler spread.

KETCHIKAN, ALASKA / March 12, 2021 – Chinook Shores Lodge, a premier Southeast Alaska fishing lodge specializing in guided charters, self-guided fishing and wildlife viewing, today announced a strategic alliance with Alaskan and Proud Markets (A&P) that caters to the independent traveler.

Building upon the success of last year’s lodge grocery order program and curbside pickup, A&P developed Ready to Eat-Heat-Cook and Ready to Cook Meals order guides for Chinook Shores Lodge guests.

“Our objective is to provide excellent service to our lodge guests and drive business to independent Alaska companies while keeping Ketchikan residents safe,” said Chinook Shores Lodge co-owner Nadra Angerman. “Independent travelers enjoy shopping locally and supporting small business which made A&P the perfect market to partner with.”

A&P’s order guides provide consumer choices for travelers staying in vacation rental homes or anglers looking for food to eat on the boat or after a long day of fishing:

  • Ready to Eat-Heat-Cook guide offers shoppers the ability to order complete or partial meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast and lunch meals are ready to eat and intended for people on the go or anglers in a hurry to get to the fishing grounds and looking for food items to take on the boat. Ready to heat items are perfect for people looking for a quick dinner after a long day of boating.
  • Ready to Cook Meals are assembled meal packages that are already seasoned and ready to be cooked (directions included).

“We are excited to offer this service to independent travelers who enjoy cooking meals in their vacation rental homes,” said Ben Williams, president of Alaskan & Proud Markets. “We tested this new product and service offering with locals over the holidays and it was incredibly popular and successful.”

Chinook Shores Lodge accommodates 32 travelers a day in private beach houses located at Knudson Cove.  The lodge does not offer food service, rather it refers guests to local grocery stores, liquor stores and restaurants. Last year, in addition to local restaurant food deliveries, Chinook Shores Lodge used A&P’s order guide so their guests could select groceries in advance of their trip, pay by phone and pick-up orders curbside immediately after landing in Ketchikan.

Pre-pandemic, lodge staff would shuttle guests directly from the airport to stores so guests could shop in grocery and liquor stores before arriving at the final destination. COVID-19 encouraged Chinook Shores Lodge to elevate customer service by offering personal shopper services to travelers who were pending a negative test result.

“We are excited to offer locals and visitors a menu of our favorite ready meals made fresh and locally — We do all the prep work so they can enjoy a tasty meal with family or friends after a full day of fishing (or catching as we call it) in Southeast Alaska, Williams said.

“We are grateful to have operated in 2020 without a single COVID-19 incident and look forward to our fishing season and continuing to develop new ways to connect our guests with other Ketchikan businesses,” Angerman added.

Chinook Shores, Inc. (dba Chinook Shores Lodge) is located 15 miles north of Ketchikan International Airport in Southeast Alaska on Revillagigedo Island. Accommodations include four waterfront beach houses, one water view vacation rental and The Inn at Knudson Cove. All vacation rental properties have fully equipped kitchens, private outdoor BBQ areas, washer/dryers, cable TV, WiFi and cell service. Chinook Shores Lodge specializes in self-guided fishing and rents custom-built, 23’ aluminum hardtop fishing boats from their private dock to locals and lodge guests who enjoy sportfishing and whale watching. When guests aren’t boating, they often enjoy shopping locally and participating in tours and excursions such as flightseeing, catamaran tours, kayaking, hiking and zip-lining.
