KETCHIKAN, ALASKA / June 1, 2018 – Chinook Shores Lodge, a premier Southeast Alaska fishing lodge specializing in guided charters and self-guided fishing, today announced Søren Heinecke’s successful completion of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved Captain’s License training program at Flagship Maritime.
To obtain the Master Near Coastal of Inspected Passenger Vessels Up to 100 Gross Ton Captain’s License, Heinecke logged 720 days of documented experience on big vessels in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea. Additionally he logged boat days in Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage while working at Chinook Shores Lodge.
“The 100 Gross Ton Captain’s License represents Soren’s commitment to mastering marine navigation, weather systems, equipment and safety,” said lodge owner Jeff Wedekind. “He has elevated his knowledge to a level that will better serve our clients’ needs and help satisfy the demand for sightseeing guides and charter boat operators in Ketchikan, Alaska.”

Heinecke’s credentials allow him to carry up to six passengers on these smaller vessels that engage in guided fishing charters, as well as, larger vessels that can carry 49 passengers during wildlife sightseeing tours and cruise ship excursions.
“I’m always excited to return to Chinook Shores Lodge for sport fishing season and assist clients on the dock,” said Heinecke. “This year I’ll be looking forward to putting my navigation and piloting skills to use out on the fishing grounds and waters surrounding Knudson Cove, Clover Pass and Clarence Straight.”
Heinecke’s other certifications and credentials include the Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Six-Pack License, FCC Marine Radio Operator and Commercial Assistance Towing.
