Support local, small businesses during the Coronavirus Crisis!
March 20, 2020

Our hearts go out to people whose lives have been affected by this worldwide Coronavirus pandemic. Here in Ketchikan, our hospitality and cruise ship dependent tourism businesses are hurting. Local restaurants, bars, gift shops, hair salons and others are suddenly suffering from a lack of customers. Here’s how you can help:

Order Take-Out

Annabelles Keg & Chowder House

Dinners feed 4-6 people and can be picked up at their curbside. Annabelle’s is located at 326 Front Street. There is a sign outside indicating where people can pickup orders. Call Annabelle’s at (907) 225-6009 or ORDER ONLINE

Cape Fox Lodge

Cape Fox Lodge offers curbside pickup. Choose from four different entrees: Beef Tips w/ mashed potatoes, Chicken Fettuccine, Reindeer Mac & Cheese or their House Pot Roast. All entrees include salad and cost $50. Cape Fox drivers will deliver to locations as far north as Walmart and as far south as the USCG base.

Call Cape Fox at (907) 225-8001

Alaska and Proud

Alaska & Proud is a favorite local grocery and liquor store. Located at 3816 Tongass Ave, groceries are available for pickup. Register online — an online account gives people access to weekly specials, coupons and personalized shopping lists. Get Hooked on Cooking at Home

Bacon Wrapped Halibut

Over the years local fisherwoman and cookbook author, Ladonna Rose Gunderson, has developed a “boat load” of quick-to-fix recipes using easy-to-find ingredients. Now is the perfect time to hone your culinary skills while trying new recipes. Ladonna has published several books such as “My Tiny Alaska Oven” and “Salmon, Deserts & Friends.” Cookbooks are available online and at many local stores.

The Captain's Lady Boutique & Gifts

The Captain’s Lady at 28 Creek Street is one of Ketchikan’s favorite boutiques featuring over 30 Alaskan Artists. Their love of the ocean and community is reflected through their selection of gifts. The Captain’s Lady is open for business and “The Captain” is happy to deliver purchases made online. Here are a couple popular items:

  • Nautical chart blankets — perfect for cozzying up while quarantined!
  • Puzzles — perfect for fighting boredom and keeping minds sharp while social distancing!

Visit their website for clothing, accessories, jewelry and more: www.akcaptainslady.com Call Captain’s Lady at (907) 821-2278.

Simply Bella

Like the Captain’s Lady, Simply Bella has continued regular store hours, providing a friendly place to escape for a few moments while doing everything possible to follow CDC guidelines to keep the store clean and sanitized. They offer curbside service at their fairly new 3966 N Tongass Highway location. Ask about their custom adventure packs made personally for local families and the large variety of cooking and baking items you may need when trying Ladonna Rose’s recipes at home! Visit Simply Bella on Facebook.

Sparkle! Don’t forget, Ketchikan is home to year-round jewelry stores: Julie’s Fine Gifts and Jewelry and Jai Mahtani’s Gold Rush work very hard to support cruise ships and local shoppers!

Get Outside, Get Fresh Air!

Knudson Cove Marina

Social distancing has become essential and public health officials agree that to avoid the spread of Coronavirus we must limit our contact with people and avoid large groups. The sun has been shining in Ketchikan lately making it a wonderful time to get and enjoy nature! Our neighbors at Knudson Cove Marina offer kayak, stand-up paddle board rentals and other watercraft. Call Knudson Cove Marina at  (907) 247-8500 to reserve a single-seat kayak.

Boat Hair, Don’t Care?

HBS Serendipity

Let’s face it, many of us do care! That’s why the hair stylists at HBS Serendipity, a north-end hair salon, will create personally formulated take home kits for people who need a little extra help to get their hair through these next few weeks! Their salon is not open for services; however, it is open with limited hours for retail therapy.  Look for great deals on Bare Minerals, Paul Mitchell products and clothing items. They take orders over the phone and package them for curbside pickup. HBS Serendipity is located at 7204 North Tongass Hwy.  Call (907) 225-7873 or follow @hbsserendipity on Instagram for updated hours, flash sales and makeup tips.

Pro-Tip: Buy Alaska Fishing License Online

Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the Alaska Department of Fish & Game website. Limit your exposure to people at the counter when you visit the ADF&G Online Store instead.
